18.9.2025 | Nordic media education authorities studied the media literacy skills of citizens in the Nordic countries and the results of the survey will be published in October. Media literacy was a topic of discussion at a Nordic conference organised by the Ministry of Education and Culture on 18 and 19 September.

18.2.2025 | Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz met Estonia's Minister of Education and Research Kristina Kallas in Tallinn on 18 February. A Finnish - Estonian declaration on digitalisation, media literacy and artificial intelligence was published during the visit. The ministers also discussed these themes with experts and students.

16.12.2019 | The main objective of the Media Literacy in Finland policy is to provide comprehensive, high-quality and systematic media education. The vision underpinning the policy is to provide effective media education so that everyone in Finland can have better opportunities to develop their media literacy. The policy present a number of proposals for measures supporting the achievement of the objectives.

14.9.2018 | The National Literacy Forum, appointed by the Minister of Education Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, published guidelines for developing children’s and young people’s literacy and enthusiasm for reading on the 14th September. Lukuliike - The Need to Read Movement, launched based on the guidelines, challenges everyone to promote reading and literacy.

31.10.2017 | The Minister of Education and Culture has set a National Literacy Forum to challenge the declining literacy and people’s willingness to read The Forum is tasked to draft guidelines to develop children’s literacy and interest in reading. The Forum gathers experts on literacy and other parties involved with the issue. An appropriation of one million euros is granted to the Literacy Forum.
