Media literacy and education
Media literacy has been a part of the Finnish education system for many decades. Media education is present already in early childhood education and continues through school and beyond. The goal is that everyone should be able to analyze different kinds of media, and for example recognize disinformation. Students are also encouraged to create media content themselves.
Libraries and various organizations also offer guidance and education on the subject, so that people can continue and update their media literacy thorough life.
Finland has its own policy on media literacy and media education, which the National Audiovisual Institute is responsible for implementing.
