15.1.2026 | The European Capital of Culture year in Oulu begins with a three-day Opening Festival starting on Friday, 16 January. The programme features nearly 200 events, offering a diverse range of experiences – most of them free of charge and open to people of all ages. Throughout the year, Oulu will be alive with cultural events, performances and exhibitions.

11.6.2021 | The flagship event in the administrative branch of the Ministry of Education during the Finnish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers took place on 8¬-9 June 2021. Entitled ‘We All Make a Difference!’, the conference looked at sustainable development from the angles of education, culture, and the youth.

2.6.2021 | Uleåborg får titeln Europeisk kulturhuvudstad 2026. Valet görs på rekommendation av en europeisk jury som består av nio oberoende experter inom konst och kultur. Offentliggörandet av juryns  rekommendation blev slutpunkten på juryns besök i de kandiderande städerna och ett två dagar långt sammanträde i Helsingfors där valet avgjordes. Resultatet stod klart onsdagen den andra juni.

7.12.2022 | Undervisnings- och kulturministeriet har beviljat yrkeshögskolor fem miljoner euro i statlig finansiering enligt prövning för forsknings-, utvecklings- och innovationsverksamhet (FoUI). FoUI-projektansökan genomfördes i år för femte gången för att stärka kapaciteten inom forskning, utveckling och innovation och för att stödja den strategiska planeringen och ledningen.

9.2.2022 | Undervisnings- och kulturministeriet ordnade under hösten 2021 den nordiska klimatförändringstävlingen Nord StarT. Tävlingen var en del av programmet i Finlands ordförandeskap i Nordiska ministerrådet 2021 och ordnades i samarbete med LUMA-centrets StarT-program. Syftet med tävlingen var att aktivera barn, unga och vuxna, från småbarnspedagogiken till högskolor, att tillsammans komma fram med konkreta sätt att bemästra klimatförändringen.

13.11.2023 | Minister of Youth, Sport and Physical Activity Sandra Bergqvist will participate in the ministerial session of the Youth Forum to be held in Paris on 14–15 November 2023. The Youth Forum will take place during the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO. The aim is to make young people's voices heard and to discuss solutions to improve their wellbeing in the context of climate change impacts.

6.11.2023 | Minister of Education Anna-Maja Henriksson is attending the 42nd session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Paris on 7–9 November 2023. During the trip, the Minister will also attend a discussion on a UNESCO's comprehensive Global Report on Teachers.
