30.5.2024 | In its meeting on 29 May, the government-appointed parliamentary research, development and innovation (RDI) monitoring group discussed the multiannual plan for the use of research and development funding, which is currently under preparation. The monitoring group highlighted the role of R&D experts and stressed the importance of deepening cooperation and improving effectiveness in R&D activities.

13.6.2024 | The multiannual plan for the use of central government research and development funding focuses on strengthening cooperation between businesses and other R&D actors and encouraging businesses to step up their R&D activities in Finland. The plan also aims to improve the conditions for ambitious research that produces new skills and knowledge, to strengthen research and technology infrastructures and to promote international R&D cooperation.

14.12.2021 | At its meeting on 14 December 2021, the Ministerial Working Group on Competence, Education, Culture and Innovation approved the first update of the national Roadmap for RDI. The first Roadmap for RDI of Prime Minister Marin's Government published in spring 2020 paves the way for sustainable growth and wellbeing based on knowledge, education, research and innovation.

13.12.2021 | In its new report, the Parliamentary Working Group on Research, Development and Innovation proposes introducing a legislative act on the financing of research and development and drawing up a statutory plan for R&D funding that would extend beyond the spending limits period. The working group also proposes introducing a permanent and more extensive tax incentive for research and development activities.

9.10.2017 | The National Memorial to the Winter War will be unveiled to the public at Kasarmitori square in Helsinki on 30 November, the day the Winter War broke out. The memorial has been designed by sculptor Pekka Kauhanen. The memorial project was initiated by the Winter War Association, and President Martti Ahtisaari is the patron of the project. The monument will be unveiled as part of the celebrations for Finland’s centenary of independence and the events of the week preceding the anniversary.
