Minister Poutala discusses the construction of multi-purpose arenas with Estonian delegation
Minister of Youth, Sport and Physical Activity Mika Poutala met his Estonian counterpart, Undersecretary for Sports Raido Mitt, and his delegation on Monday 2 February. At the meeting, they discussed Finnish experiences and best practices related to modern multi-purpose arenas. The visit is related to a planned multi-purpose arena in Tallinn.
This occasion follows on from the Estonian Ministry of Culture's visit to Helsinki in November 2025, when key sport policy issues and practices were discussed. This time, the main topic of interest lies in modern multi-purpose arenas and their planning, development and operation. The agenda also includes matters related to funding for sports and physical activity as well as sports academies and sports schools.
The two-day visit also focuses on multi-purpose arenas in Helsinki and Tampere.
"I’m very pleased that Finland and Estonia can work together on sports and physical activity issues and learn from each other's experiences,” says Minister Poutala.
The delegation's visit to Finland is related to a project launched in Estonia which aims to build a modern multi-purpose arena in Tallinn. A related study coordinated by the Estonian Olympic Committee is due to be completed in spring 2026.
The delegation includes Kersti Kaljulaid, President of the Estonian Olympic Committee.
