25.11.2025 | The EU ministers responsible for education, youth, culture and sport will meet in Brussels on 27–28 November. The Council’s agenda includes vocational education and training, the European Education Area, the Erasmus+ programme, the importance of culture for democratic resilience, the AgoraEU programme, and democracy and transparency in sport. The Oulu European Capital of Culture 2026 project will also be presented at the meeting.

4.4.2025 | Minister of Science and Culture Mari-Leena Talvitie will attend an informal meeting of EU ministers of culture in Warsaw on 7 and 8 April. The meeting will continue the discussion on the protection of cultural heritage, especially from the perspective of the situation in Ukraine.

28.6.2019 | The EU Youth Conference will bring together young people, youth workers, researchers and representatives of ministries and youth organisations from several countries to discuss youth work in Helsinki between 1 and 3 July. The Conference will have 240 participants from 28 EU Member States.

19.11.2019 | Minister of Science and Culture Hanna Kosonen will chair the Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council meeting in Brussels on 21–22 November. The meeting will focus on culture and sustainable development, the competitiveness of the audiovisual sector, combating corruption in sport, safe sport for children and young people, education and training of youth workers, and digital youth work. Culture and sport are on the agenda on 21 November and youth affairs on 22 November.

6.11.2019 | Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union is the first to arrange a joint policy debate for the finance and education ministers of EU member states. The debate will take place on 8 November 2019 in Brussels. The ministers will discuss the role of education and training in promoting wellbeing and driving sustainable growth. Finland will be represented by Minister of Finance Mika Lintilä and Minister of Education Li Andersson.

16.9.2019 | The Conference on Sport will discuss how children and young people can stay safe when engaging in sports and physical activity. The conference will bring together some 120 sporting professionals, influencers and decision-makers at Hanaholmen Cultural Centre on 24 September.

7.11.2019 | The European Union's education ministers will meet on 8 November in Brussels. Finland will be represented by Minister of Education Li Andersson. The meeting will focus on lifelong learning and the use of artificial intelligence in education and training.

27.8.2020 | Groups for developing the copyright infrastructure will convene in three compositions in August and September: Practices, Technology and Legal Issues. The groups consist of experts from different fields. They will report to the National Copyright Delegation in October 2020 to assess further measures.
