Upper secondary education
Upper secondary education in Finland consists of two types of upper secondary studies, namely general upper secondary education and vocational education and training. General upper secondary education and the matriculation examination completed at the end of it give students the potential for studying in higher education institutions. Vocational education and training equips students for the world of work but also for higher education studies.
The Ministry of Education and Culture is responsible for drafting the legislation governing general upper secondary education and vocational education and training. The Ministry also oversees and supervises the sector.
