The Results of PISA 2009

In 2009 PISA focused on reading literacy and thereby marked the start of a new PISA round. In PISA 2009 the main focus was also on reading literacy.

A new assessment of reading literacy allows reliable and extensive monitoring analyses. PISA 2009 also examined mathematical and scientific literacy, but with a smaller set of indicators.

PISA 2009 was conducted in Finland by the Institute for Educational Research (University of Jyväskylä). In 2009, 65 countries/economies participated in the PISA assessment, 33 of which were OECD members.

The new results were published on 7 December 2010.
