Newcomers to Finland who learn the language, find a job or a study place, and who build contacts in Finland tend to find it easier to integrate into the Finnish society. One's own culture, language and religion can still be an important part of life.

Education and training provided for immigrants, in other words asylum seekers, refugees, immigrants, returning migrants and foreign citizens who have arrived in Finland, aims to help them act on equal terms in Finnish society and to maintain and advance their own cultural identity and language. Another objective is to encourage them to become as bilingual as possible, so that they master their own mother tongue and either Finnish or Swedish.
