Subsidies of the Ministry of Education and Culture

The Ministry of Education and Culture grants statutory state aid and discretionary subsidies for projects relating to education, research, culture, sport and youth work. The Ministry grants funds towards the cost of organisations' operations, the activities and construction of educational and cultural establishments, and for information society projects. Projects can also apply for EU funding from the Structural Funds and different programmes.

Other sources of financing

The Academy of Finland allocates funding on a competitive basis to the best researchers and research teams and to the most promising young researchers. Scientifically ambitious projects are a particular goal.

The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is an expert and service agency for promoting the arts. Taike together with its arts councils and boards awards grants to professional artists and subsidies to communities in the field of the arts.

Finnish National Agency for Education grants subsidies for international activities in education from an appropriation earmarked for the purpose in the state budget. It is also in charge of implementing a number of nationally-funded programmes of collaboration in higher education. An important segment of these are programmes funded from the appropriations of development cooperation. EDUFI also administers a number of different scholarship programmes. 

The Finnish Film Foundation offers funding for the professional production, distribution and exhibition of films.
