1.12.2021 | The Ministry of Education and Culture, together with Finnish higher education institutions, research institutes and other stakeholders, has prepared recommendations for academic cooperation with Chinese partners. The recommendations help to identify the key challenges of cooperation and the features of the academic environment in China. The recommendations seek to ensure that it is possible to uphold the principles that are important for Finnish HEIs and research institutions.

15.4.2021 | On 15 April, the Government adopted a decree bringing into force an agreement between Finland and the People's Republic of China on the establishment of a China Cultural Centre in Finland. Negotiations on the agreement lasted for several years and the agreement was signed in Beijing in autumn 2019.

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Tuula Haatainen, Minister of Science and Culture Hanna Kosonen and Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China Sun Chunlan will be attending the celebrations.

30.10.2024 | Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz will attend the 2024 Global Education Meeting (GEM) organised by UNESCO in Fortaleza, Brazil, on 31 October and 1 November 2024. Brazil is hosting the meeting as part of its G20 Presidency. The meeting will examine strategies needed to achieve the SDG4 Education 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and is expected to adopt the Fortaleza Declaration by the ministers.

10.1.2019 | The year 2019 was designated as the China Finland Year of Winter Sports at the meeting of the Finnish and Chinese presidents in spring 2017. Finland is the first country with which China has agreed on this type of winter sports partnership. The thematic year and the preparations for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing are expected to boost Chinese interest in Finnish winter sports expertise.

24.10.2023 | PhD Mika Tirronen has been appointed to the position of Knowledge specialist in higher education and science policy in Singapore. A Knowledge specialist is an official of the Foreign Service who works under the Finnish Embassy in Singapore. The Ministry of Education and Culture is responsible for the position's content-related guidance.
