Team Finland Knowledge specialist Mika Tirronen to be posted from New Delhi to Singapore

PhD Mika Tirronen has been appointed to the position of Knowledge specialist in higher education and science policy in Singapore. A Knowledge specialist is an official of the Foreign Service who works under the Finnish Embassy in Singapore. The Ministry of Education and Culture is responsible for the position's content-related guidance.

Mika Tirronen has been a Team Finland Knowledge specialist at the Embassy in New Delhi since September 2019. He will start in the new position on 1 December 2023. As a holder of a PhD in molecular developmental genetics, he has worked as programme manager at the Academy of Finland and as senior ministerial adviser in education and science at the Embassy of Finland in Beijing. He has gained work experience in North America, Europe and Asia. More recently, Mika Tirronen has been working with China and India.

The tasks of Knowledge specialist include promoting education and research cooperation between Finland and South-East Asian countries. The focus is on increasing awareness of Finland as an attractive environment for study, research and innovation, following and analysing the higher education and science policies of the countries in the region, assisting other actors in the administrative branch to strengthen cooperation, and supporting the export of expertise and educational innovation. The post of Knowledge specialist is part of the Team Finland Knowledge network and supports the Embassy's Team Finland activities.

Mika Tirronen will take up the post for a fixed term from 1 December 2023 until 31 July 2028.
