Minister of Youth, Sport and Physical Activity Sandra Bergqvist will participate in the ministerial session of the Youth Forum to be held in Paris on 14–15 November 2023. The Youth Forum will take place during the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO. The aim is to make young people's voices heard and to discuss solutions to improve their wellbeing in the context of climate change impacts.

Bringing together representatives from around the world, the Youth Forum will focus on the social impacts of climate change.

”Climate change and biodiversity loss affect young generations in particular. This is a topic that interests young people. Engaging young people strengthens decision-making and boosts confidence. It is wonderful to see that our practice of engaging young people attracts international interest,” Bergqvist says.

During her visit, Minister Bergqvist will highlight the importance of physical activity in supporting young people's wellbeing. UNESCO promotes a wider role for sports and physical activity in wellbeing, inclusion and the resilience of societies.

In the elections to be held in connection with the General Conference, Finland is a candidate for membership in UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport (CIGEPS) for 2023–2027.
