Sirkku Linna appointed Director General of Department for Higher Education and Science Policy

The Government has appointed Sirkku Linna as Director General at the Ministry of Education and Culture for a fixed-term public-service relationship between 1 December 2023 and 30 November 2028. She will head the Department for Higher Education and Science Policy at the Ministry.

Sirkku Linna holds a Master's degree in Social Sciences and in Economics. Prior to her appointment as Director General, Linna headed the Leadership Support Services at Aalto University where she was appointed Development Director in 2015.

Linna has previously served as State Secretary to the Minister of Economic Affairs and as Special Adviser to the Prime Minister in Political Affairs.

By the closing date, 23 persons had submitted their application for the post of Director General. The Department for Higher Education and Science Policy is in charge of strategic development, legislation, financing, and guidance and direction of higher education and science matters, and international cooperation in the field.
