Mrs Sarkomaa Minister of Education, Mr Wallin Minister of Culture and Sport
Sari Sarkomaa (National Coalition Party), Master of Health Care, Member of Parliament, was appointed Minister of Education and Science and Stefan Wallin (Swedish People's Party), Master of Social Sciences, Member of Parliament, was appointed Minister of Culture and Sport in the newly elected government at the presidential session of the Government on Thursday. Mr Wallin will also be responsible for equality matters which belong to the remit of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
As Minister of Education and Science, Sari Sarkomaa will handle matters relating to education, training and science, and as Minister of Culture and Sport, Stefan Wallin will be in charge of matters relating to culture, copyright, sports, youth, financial aid for students and church affairs.
Each minister is also responsible for international matters in their sectors and for matters relating to appointments and personnel administration in the Ministry of Education. Each minister also directs financial planning and the preparation of budgets and other joint matters in his/her respective field.
