Finland is an affordable piece of paradise, says Emmy Verschuren, an originally Dutch researcher working now in her FIMM group in Helsinki. She gave a video testimonial about the research environments and working possibilities in Finland in the “Destination Europe” -event in San Francisco in December 2012. Information for foreign researchers planning to come to Finland provides also the portal EURAXESS Finland.

EURAXESS Finland portal provides information for foreign researchers planning to come to Finland or already staying here as well as for outgoing researchers. EURAXESS is a joint initiative of the European Commission and the 35 countries participating in the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme for Research.

The Academy of Finland acts as the national EURAXESS bridgehead organization in Finland. The Academy of Finland supports international cooperation on a broad front, such as through researcher mobility and international joint projects. The Academy also seeks to attract the interest of foreign researchers in Finnish science and research environments.

The overall objective is to raise the level of research being done in Finland and add to the international element of Finnish research environments.

Destination Europe is a joint initiative of the European Union and its Member States. Destination Europe events showcase the vibrant and exciting research and innovation culture in Europe and the opportunities available to researchers, from anywhere in the world, interested in working in Europe.

Emmy Verschuren, an originally Dutch researcher working now in her FIMM group in Helsinki, gave a video testimonial about the research environments and working possibilities in Finland in the San Francisco “Destination Europe” -event in December 2012.

Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) is an international research institute focusing on human genomics and personalized medicine. Emmy´s group is working on dissecting cellular and biochemical properties of candidate tumor suppressors and oncogenes, aiming to build the molecular constituents of novel cancer networks.
