Finland to ratify the Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions

The Ministry of Education and Culture will start preparations for ratifying the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions (Macolin Convention). The purpose of this Convention is to combat the manipulation of sports competition by cooperation between the authorities, sports organisations and the betting sector.

Joint Finnish-Swedish proposal prepared for dipnet fishing in the Torne River rapids for inscription on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The decision on inscription is due in December 2026.

New vision for higher education and research being prepared – take part in an open stakeholder survey

Minister of Science and Culture Mari-Leena Talvitie has launched a new vision for higher education and research. It will extend to 2040. In the first phase for the new vision, we will collect views from higher education and research organisations and other stakeholders so that a shared situation picture can be formed. The stakeholder survey is open until 4 April.
