Minister Bergqvist to visit Turin to follow the Special Olympics Winter World Championships

Sandra Bergqvist, Minister of Youth, Sport and Physical Activity will be travelling with the Finnish Paralympic Committee to Italy and visit the Special Olympics World Winter Games for athletes with disabilities between 12 and 14 March 2025.
The purpose of the visit is to learn about the World Winter Games, to get to know the participating Finnish athletes and to support and encourage them. During her trip to Turin, the Minister will watch, for example, figure skating and floorball competitions and follow different snow sports events.
"It is my great pleasure and honour to be the first minister from Finland responsible for sports and physical activity to attend the Special Olympics Winter Games. It’s wonderful to be able to experience and share the joy of equitable opportunities in sports and participation,” says Bergqvist.
The world's largest inclusive sports event takes in Turin and its neighbouring cities, bringing together some 1,500 athletes from 120 countries. Sisujengi, the Finnish team of 34 athletes, will be competing in in six sports in the Winter World Games: cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, figure skating and unified floorball.
