Over EUR 3 million from Finland's Sustainable Growth Programme for revitalising cultural and creative industries

Minister of Science and Culture Sari Multala has granted EUR 3.3 million in discretionary government grants to those operating in the cultural and creative industries. Structural support is part of the Sustainable Growth Programme and is designed to create innovative services and to devise novel production and operating procedures.
Government proposes changes to tuition fees for non-EU and non-EEA students

The Government proposes amendments to the Universities Act and the Universities of Applied Sciences Act concerning tuition fees for non-EU and non-EEA students, and the introduction of an application fee for such students. The Government also proposes specifications to the provisions on commissioned education.
Bildung Review compiles statistics and information from educational and cultural administration

On 3 May, the Ministry of Education and Culture published the 2024 Bildung Review, which compiles statistical and other information on the administrative branch of the Ministry, its development and situation in international comparison. The themes for 2024 are regionality, life cycle and the fields of education and culture. The objective of the annually published review is to create an overall picture of the extensive administrative branch as a whole.
A new international legal instrument has been adopted at the World Intelletual Property Organisation WIPO Diplomatic Conference in Geneva. The international agreementregarding a disclosure requirement related to genetic resources aims to enhance the efficacy, transparency and quality of the patent system with regard to genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge.

The Finnish Heritage Agency and its partners have produced a 3D model of Petäjävesi Old Church to help preserve valuable information of this cultural heritage site for future generations. Accurate measurement data will also help those planning the restoration and repairs of the church.
