Minister Multala to visit the European Capital of Culture Tartu

Minister of Science and Culture Sari Multala will attend the opening day of the Tartu Capital of Culture year on Friday 26 January. During her visit, the Minister will also meet the Ministers of Culture of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and the European Commissioner for Culture.

In addition to taking part in the opening ceremonies, the Ministers of Culture of Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will discuss topical cultural policy themes, such as advancements in the creative industries, the protection of cultural heritage and the role of culture in sustainable development.

The main theme of Tartu's title year features the arts of survival, i.e. knowledge, skills and values. The artistic concept of the year is encapsulated in the title ”Arts of Survival”.

Besides Tartu, Bodø in Norway and Bad Ischl in Austria are European Capitals of Culture in 2024.
