Minister Bergqvist followed the European Athletics Championships in Rome

Sandra Bergqvist, Minister responsible for sports, visited Rome between 10 and 12 June. The visit included meetings with ministers and sports organisations as well as supporting Finnish athletes.

During her visit, Minister Bergqvist met Andrea Abodi, the Italian Minister for Sport and Youth. The ministers discussed topical sports issues, ways to prevent sedentary lifestyles and how to promote healthy ways to live. 

During her visit, Bergqvist also met Maria Cristina Pisani, President of the National Youth Council of Italy, to discuss ways to increase the inclusion and wellbeing of young people and the impact of digitalisation and artificial intelligence on young people's lives.

In addition, Minister Bergqvist followed the Finnish athletics team’s performance at the Olympic Stadium in Rome and met with athletes and coaches as well as leaders of the European Athletics organisation.
