9.10.2017 | The National Memorial to the Winter War will be unveiled to the public at Kasarmitori square in Helsinki on 30 November, the day the Winter War broke out. The memorial has been designed by sculptor Pekka Kauhanen. The memorial project was initiated by the Winter War Association, and President Martti Ahtisaari is the patron of the project. 3.11.2017 | Parliament has ratified the Faro Framework Convention and passed a bill bringing into force the provisions of a legislative nature of the Convention in Finland. The Faro Convention emphasises the role of cultural heritage as a common and valuable resource, the diversity of cultural heritage, and the significance of cultural heritage as a resource for sustainable economic development. The National Inventory will be supplemented at regular intervals, and it will be opened for new proposals in 2019 at the earliest.
