    15.4.2021 | The EUROSTUDENT VII study examined the living conditions, studies, social background and livelihoods of students in higher education. Over 7,000 students in higher education responded to the survey carried out in spring 2019. Finland's national results were published in September 2020. The five research papers now published support the national report and give it thematic depth.

    13.1.2021 | The 2020 study shows that the volume of annual private copying among people aged between 15 and 79 is approximately 258-276 million music and video files. This total number (258 million files) includes only the legal private copying as defined in the Copyright Act. In the 2019 survey, the corresponding estimate of private copying was 275–297 million files. Similar information was gathered by Taloustutkimus in 2019.

    6.10.2020 | On 6 October 2020, the Finnish minister of science and culture, Annika Saarikko, granted the State Award for Foreign Translators to the Dutch translator Annemarie Raas. The prize is worth €15,000 and was awarded this year for the forty-fifth time. Raas is the first translator into Dutch to receive the award.

    6.4.2020 | The Government will continue to impose restrictions on contact teaching at all levels of education. This means that the exceptional arrangements for education will be extended until 13 May.     13.12.2017 | Professor, Vice Rector Riitta Pyykkö submitted a report on the current state and development needs of Finland’s language reserve to Minister of Education Sanni Grahn-Laasonen on 13 December. The report, drawn up by Professor Pyykkö, covers the entire Finnish education system and proposes an array of measures that should be taken to develop Finnish people’s language skills so that they would meet the future needs.

The award includes a cash prize of €15,000. Kinnunen received her award on Tuesday 25 May from Finland’s Minister of Science and Culture Annika Saarikko.
