23.11.2017 | The Ministry of Education and Culture has decided to enter 52 elements in the National Inventory of Living Heritage. The National Inventory will be supplemented at regular intervals, and it will be opened for new proposals in 2019 at the earliest. 8.12.2015 | The Minister of Education and Culture Sanni Grahn-Laasonen awarded the Finland Prize to seven artists who have shown exceptional accomplishment. Among this year’s prize recipients were Finnish contemporary classical music composer Aulis Sallinen and actress Birgitta Ulfsson. 12.10.2017 | In its resolution of 12 October, the Government outlined measures to be taken to promote young people’s growth and living conditions during the remainder of the government term. The National Youth Work and Youth Policy Programme is a cross-sectoral programme drawn up under the new Youth Act. The programme will be adopted as a government resolution every four years. 13.9.2007 | On Thursday 13 September 2007, the Finnish Government submitted its proposal for the establishment of European Schooling in Helsinki. It would be a state school comprising a two-year pre-primary school, a five-year primary school and a seven-year secondary school. The European Schooling is projected to start in August 2008. 13.9.2007 | A budget of EUR 6,888.9 million has been proposed for the sector of the Ministry of Education in the draft State budget, an increase of EUR 324.6 million over the current year. The year 2008 will be devoted to improving the quality of basic education and expanding vocational education. An increase in the operating budgets of universities is a key element in the emphasis on competencies.
