14.1.2026 | The Ministry of Education and Culture carried out a two-year pre-primary education trial in a total of 148 municipalities between 2021 and 2024. Altogether 37,357 children took part. They were placed in the trial group and control group by drawing lots. 15.4.2021 | The EUROSTUDENT VII study examined the living conditions, studies, social background and livelihoods of students in higher education. Over 7,000 students in higher education responded to the survey carried out in spring 2019. Finland's national results were published in September 2020. 6.11.2019 | Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union is the first to arrange a joint policy debate for the finance and education ministers of EU member states. The debate will take place on 8 November 2019 in Brussels. The ministers will discuss the role of education and training in promoting wellbeing and driving sustainable growth. The Summit brought delegations of ministers and deputy ministers from 21 countries across the world to Finland. In the triennial survey, Finnish 15-year-olds ranked in third place among the OECD countries in scientific literacy.
